I was at a wedding this past weekend, I got very drunk. My friend came and picked me up and took me home. Shortly after arriving I left his house and began walking, I got confused did not know where I was at and lost my cell phone. I did not remember most of the night. I later found out that belongings of me had been found in a semi-truck that was parked, and things went missing from that truck. Small things, like a few atlas', a radar detector and some snacks. I do remember getting into a truck and sitting there, but not taking anything. I have been contacted, and the officer said this could just blow over if the items are returned. I did not find these items in my possession. Should I just give them the monetary value? Is the officer lying to me to try to get a confession? What do you think will happen? Will I goto jail either way? What would I be charged with? I have not been charged with anything.

You could be charged with a variety of theft related offenses. You might be able to work out a deal to pay for the missing items, but if you do that you might still be prosecuted ... and your payment might be seen as proof of guilt.

Consult an attorney ... this could be bad.
