The issue is as follows: Father resides in NY state while child resides with mother in OK state. Father wants to get visitation rights to child. I'm the girlfriend of the father and trying to find out information. As far as I can tell we have to file a petetion to an OK court to file for visitation. I can't find where to get the forms and we have a lawyer in NY but I'm not sure if we should contact one in OK or how that would even work. I don't know what we need to have in terms of documentation to prove to the judge the father wants to be a bigger part of his child's life than he is being allowed to right now. Child support orders have been issued and father pays diligently yet doesn't get to talk to his son but once every two weeks. I don't know where to start can anyone help? or have any advice? Thanks in advance.

Without a court order, Mom doesn't have to allow any contact.

However, Dad doesn't have to prove anything to get visitation - he simply files (in Mom's community - OK), and unless Mom has a compelling reason, he'll be awarded visitation. It will be in Mom's community to begin with and depending on how well Dad and the child know each other it may well be supervised to begin with.

Dad should call the court-house local to Mom or contact an OK attorney.
