Need Help on money that is owed to me!

Hi,
I'm in Florida, I had an accident about a year ago and rather than calling the police I had my car towed to my house. From there I contacted a mechanic whom I paid to fix the car, we did not have a contract or anything like that. It was a verbal agreement, it has been a year now and the car was never fixed and the mechanic ignores my calls... Is there anything legally I can do to recoup the money i paid??

If you make it as far as a court proceeding it will be his word against yours, so you have to decide if the dollar amount is worth the effort and the potential costs to you. The real problem is even if you get a judgment perhaps in small claims court, they don't collect the money for you so you're kind of back to square one. If he's ignoring your calls, go to him in person and perhaps by being the persistent squeaky wheel you can get something done.
Does this mechanic own or work for a legitimate business? Is so, you might have other options. If it's just an individual who does mechanic work in people's driveway for cash... well you know.
