I recently moved into a place yesterday evening and gave a check to the women who was subletting her apartment for $1,800 Deposit and Sept Rent. After moving in we were talking and she later told me that I could not use any of the amenities that I was promised that I could use. These amenities were the reason I rented this place, major selling point. Initially I was not happy with the room and the sofa bed at all, but the amenities would make it better.
This morning I put a stop payment on the check I gave her, left her a phone message and removed all the things from the apartment. Is what I wrote on the check in the memo line a binding agreement. Even though she didn't hold up on her bargain in the first place. No contract was signed and this was in Marina Del Rey, CA.
In the ad says membership to the city club.
Any advised would be greatly appreciated.
