need help with Florida child support Questions

i have looked for the mother of my child and my child for a long time....my daughter is 12 years old...my wife of 8 years has done alot of searching and found them in Florida...we live in Alabama...i contacted them back in June of 2009...i was able to talk to my daughter several times until her moms husband found out that we had found them and he said he that since i was not in her life for the past 9 years and he had been there during that time that i was not to ever call my daughter ever again...well then he tells me that he is going to adopt her...i thought about it and since she is 12 and now knows that im her dad i figured she will want to talk to me or see me one day so i let it go ..i was hurt but i knew with hope she would call oneday...on december 28 i get a call really late at night...my wife said that is was my daughters mom and she said she was trying to find her daughters father....wow that is crazy she acted like she didnt know where i was or if she even had the right number...so i get on the phone and my daughter says these words ....daddy i want to have contact with you ...keep in mind this is a 12 year old ...that doesnt sound right...i would expect can i see you can i call you or something like that...so i told her of course you are my daughter and that will never change i love you...the next day she calls i talk to her alittle then she talks to my wife...her mom gets on the phone with my wife and says she thinks child support would be nice if we are going to talk to her....i need to know what everyone thinks about this and what should i do...do you think i have to pay and do you think i will have to pay backpay since she is the one that keep me from seeing the child

So mom wants money for you to have contact with the child? How nice. Was paternity ever established? Figure out if you want visitation or not. If you do you have to file in court and the state where she is likely has jurisdiction. You may have to hire an attorney. This could be a costly process. Mom is also free to file for child support at any time.
