Need help

I was in a car accident in Aug. 2006 and sue the woman in small claims which I was awared the judgment. The judge then told us to find a way for her to pay. We exchanged numbers to keep in touch. Problem is that was in July '07 and she changed her number and she has not paid a cent. I called the court to see if there was any way to get my judgment, but I'm told it will cost me more. Is there any way I can get my money without having to keep pulling out of my own pocket??? Is it also smart to hire a lawyer for a $4,000 dollar judgement?? Please let me know.

Did you register your judgment? If not, you can go to the clerk and recorders office and do that for a small fee. This will help in the long run.

YOu could look on your states Law Library web site, see if they have a forms packet, they should. Look for a "wage garnishment" form. This may help.

You could file for contempt of court, That shouldn't cost you anything. Even if a small fee is charged, simply request that when you go to the contempt proceeding.

It's never wise to hire a lawyer, well, maybe on a murder charge. ONly two people need lawyers, underage and incompetent persons. YOu don't seem to be in that catagory.

David Grossak has an excellent book called "How to win a lawsuit without a lawyer". It is more for suing government pukes, but it would be helpful for you. There are several good books for someone acting in Propria Persona.

Last but not least, a lawyer won't do you any good in small claims court. They are barred from that. A lawyer would just piss your money down the drain anyway, they don't care, just so the greedy ******** get their money. I have never, ever in 36 years, seen anyone EVER benifit from a lawyer, not one case. If you learn procedure, you can handle it yourself.

Remember, over 70% of the lawyers are incomptent, corrupt, or both. There may be less than .0005% that would actually try to help. What is the suicide rate of lawyers? How many lives do they destroy day in and day out by their greed and incomptence???? Buyer Beware!
