HI, I'm not sure how this thing works, but I've got a question that I hope someone can help me with. I'm in New York. My mother has been diagnosed with cancer and the outlook is not good and there's not much time. My father is expected to enter an assisted living home tomorrow and neither one of them is capable of handling their finances at the moment. They have made it known to me that they would like me to take control of their finances and their home. There is no will, no power of attorney, and no guardianship in place at the moment. My father has trouble signing his name and remembering who he is and what he's doing. My mother is in too much pain and constantly on pain meds in the hospital. I'm wondering what the best plan of action is in this case. Does anyone know?

Consult a Wills, Trust and/or Estate attorney as soon as you can. Good Luck!
