I've been living at my apartment for 5 months and have been having respiratory illnesses from day one. I quit smoking 5 years ago and last week my doctor put me on an inhaler! I've taken mold samples and 1 of them came back as positive for a type of outdoor mold that causes Asthma and type 2 allergies. The other 4 have been sent to a lab in Michigan and the results will come in a week. The floors are hardwood not carpet. I have tried to talk to my building manager's boss in October in reference to letting me out of my lease and he hung up on me. I feel that there may be a toxic substance on my couch and bedding even though I washed them last Friday and on Saturday they had a peculiar "smell". The mold sample was a swab sample from my couch. The "smell" keeps coming back even after I repeatedly cleaned it. I've lost countless days from work and have racked up medical expenses from this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Need out of lease ASAP!
