I just signed a parking lease for 1 year but something came up and I now need to get out of it. I emailed my lessor and gave over 30 days notice but now they are saying I can either find someone else to take my place or I'm responsible to pay the rest of the term. I read the lease and there's nothing in there that says that, also there's not even an early termination clause.
I plan to help find another person to rent the space but if I can't find someone then what are my rights? Do I really have to pay for the rest of the year? I always thought if it doesn't specify in the lease then you just pay 1 month rent as a penalty and the lease is broken...is that wrong? Thanks for your help!
