I was driving down 15th street and was doing about 40 in a 30. The road bends around and then drops to 25. Apparently a cop was following me for about 3 blocks but waited to pull me over until I got around the corner. He then gave me a ticket for neg. driving in the 2nd($550 ouch). However he wrote the speed on the ticket as being 40 in a 25. But the location of the ticket as being back before the corner where it is 30. Can I get out of the ticket because I was only doing 10 over instead of 15? Can the judge give me a ticket for the 10 instead? Should I mark down Mitigation or Contest? So many questions so little time(I have to have it postmarked by midnight tomorrow)

This is a good question. Take pictures of the location and the sign and make sure to take a panorama view so you can connect all the pictures together to prove the location in court. If the officer wrote the wrong offense it is possible you might be able to escape as the prosecution has to first establish its case. If no such sign exists then you may not even have to call into question how fast you were going since there is no such a violation as complained of by the officer. Best of luck with this and it's a good effort.
