I own my house. Have a neighbor who has been harassing us for six months, he rents. Recently he was arrested for trespasing, assault, and disorderly conduct against us. Have told the landlord what is happening, but he has done nothing. The tenant is worthless and pursing a civil suit against will probably do no good. However, are there any options for a civil suit against the landlord? I want this psycho out of my neighborhood for good, but don't think the landlord will do anything unless pushed to. Thanks

First of all, is there an HOA in the neighborhood? If so complain to them, they often have strict rules on rental properties and tenants. If the tenant was arrested and he is violating any sort of "crime free neighborhood" he could get kicked out and the landlord fined.

Also, see if your city has some sort of registry that keeps track of rentals. Some cities charge a rental tax, and many landlords to not report that they have rentals, see if the city has any sort of book keeping on this.

Is HOA housing authority? The landlord is a lawyer so my guess is he has done the required tax stuff, but will check that out. Thanks for the reply. Have found some cases of landlords being liable for public safety/nuisance. Hopefully, this guy will get the boot before it becomes necessary to go to court.
