Hello and thanks for your help in advance. We painted temporary lines on our driveway for our high school sons to practice shooting basketball. Both play on the high school team at a very large school and know they must practice daily to maintain a spot on the team.

Apparently a person in the neighborhood complained about the lines and said we altered the architectural exterior of our property and the community management company said we must remove the lines or they will place a lean against our property. We cannot actually believe we have to deal with this issue, but would like to know:

(1) Would temporary lines on a driveway be considered a architectural change?
(2) Do they have a right to place a lean on our property
(3) We want to argue this, even if it means getting a lawyer involved, what do you think our chances are of winning?

Much appreciated!

(1) Would temporary lines on a driveway be considered a architectural change?

A: Yes, as you yourself pointed out.

(2) Do they have a right to place a lean on our property

A: It's a lien but I am assuming they do have the right since there are covenants involved (which I have not read).

(3) We want to argue this, even if it means getting a lawyer involved, what do you think our chances are of winning?

A: Zero.
