What is the difference between " Tenancy in common interest " and " Joint tenancy interest "? My Mom is on my mortgage and deed because when I bought my house 22 yrs. ago I had no credit. Now she has passed away and my house got thrown into her Will , and now the grandchildren think they should get money from her half of my house. The deed doesn't state Right to Survivorship.

Please accept my condolences upon the passing of your beloved mother.

The grandchildren now own half of the house. That's meaningless unless its a mansion worth $50,000,000.
Even then, it's worthless unless a court orders the mansion sold and the proceeds divided among the owners.

Death brings out the greed in people.
