i was accused of some allegations (never charged) and these allegations made it to a local paper who printed my name. the allegations have been investigated and found to have no truth or substance. what are my rights with the newspaper? the article did a lot of damage to me in my personal and professional life. please help with some good advice

Newspapers have historically been immune from most forms of defamation.

You were accused. The local paper printed the accusations. This is not defamation.

It was your arrest that was reported.
If it was alleged that you had been convicted then perhaps you would have an argument.
Arrest records are public information.
