I have a classic car that I had a custom shop take to do some work on. Originally the guy said it would take about 6 months. It's been a year and 6 months now. I've paid $20,000 of an agreed $25,000. And the car is not nearly done. All I get fed are excuses and I'm in a position that I can't really do anything about it! He's got my car and my money and I have lost hope. I know. I was stupid in paying that much up front. But I need to know what my legal options are at this point please. Thank you.

Is there a written contract of any kind? Something that lists the work to be done and details what the expenses are?
If you can't resolve this on your own then your option is to let a judge hear the matter in civil court. The better you can document the matter the better things will go for you.
