Security Deposit No Interest Paid to us

Hi All, could someone give me some advice.

We moved out of our rental property at the end of Jan 2015, and moved back to the UK.

Our landlord finally paid us our full security deposit back over 40 days later!!!! However, he has not paid us the interest on the money. We paid $3450 in March 2012 and moved out Jan 29th 2015. Am I entitled to the interest? If so, what rate should I request off him? As the law states "it's my money, not his".

He can ignore you. You can't touch him in the USA while you're in the UK. It might be your money, but if you want it, you'll have to sue him in NJ. Good luck with that.

Coming back to the US, from the UK to try and collect about $90 in interest which you will likely owe taxes on, will barely cover the filing fees.
