My Father-in-law just passed in a motorcycle accident. He did not have a will. There are 3 different insurance companies (car, motorcycle, and insurance of the person that pulled out infront of him) for estate to family and that have paid for funeral costs. My husband wants to know since it is his step-father, will he be entitled to any of the estate from the insurace companies? I'm looking for ANY advise, help, or answers to this.
Thank you!

My Father-in-law just passed 5 days ago in a motorcycle accident. He did not have a will. There are 3 different insurance companies (car, motorcycle, and insurance of the person that pulled out infront of him) to pay family and that have paid for funeral costs. My husband wants to know since it is his step-father, will he be entitled to any of the money from the insurace companies. He does not want to discuss this with his mother. He doesn't think it's the right timing to do so. I'm looking for ANY advise, help, or answers to this.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Without a will, as a stepchild, your husband has no claim to the estate.
