Do I face any potential legal issues?

I worked in sales for a firm as an independent contractor. I developed my own client list and recently left this firm. I have moved out of state and would like to use my established relationships to push my current services. It is not direct competition but does exhibit some similar qualities. I was working for a CA firm. I had not signed a non-compete, which I understand is unenforceable anyway.

If you don't have anything in the contract you signed with the firm regarding conflict of interests then you are good to go, but as an FYI non compete are enforceable and costly to fight.
