I work for a beauty parlor and they're now only offering hair, nails and makeup services. Since my services are no longer offered at the business, would it violate a non-compete contract if I were to help my clients in the same city?

What does the non-compete contract prohibit you from doing?

They are very clear.

You signed it.

Read the contract.

If the contract says you can't do it, don't do it.

If you aren't sure, ask the person that gave you the contract to sign.

Discuss it and see if what you intend to do is a prohibited by mutual agreement.

Those contracts usually prohibit you from doing at new employer what you did at the old employer's.

They usually stipulate a time prohibition, a distance prohibition, as well as specific activities that are prohibited.

Of course, you can always speak with a local attorney for additional clarification.
