if you work for almost six years for a company and they know in the last two years you plan to move. but didn't have an exact date. and finally get a date and tell them and they act like everything is ok. and tell you to apply at the same company in the town your moving to and you have 30 days to do it.

and then they put you as a non rehire. and get sassy on the phone. is that legal for them to do?

When they said everything was fine before hand?

Yes, it is. There are no laws whatsoever, anywhere in the US, that address no-rehire status. As long as they do not violate Title VII and related laws, and as long as no union or other contract says otherwise, it is entirely up to the employer who is eligible for rehire and why.

There are sometimes reasons unrelated to the employee himself. I once worked for a place where EVERYONE was ineligible for rehire because of some complications with non-disclosure agreements and intellectual property.

I don't see anything illegal based just on what you posted. Sorry.
