My boyfriend and I broke up a little while ago in Texas. When we were together we bought a house and both of our names appear on the deed. Mine is as primary owner his as co-owner. Both are on the mortgage. We were living together in the house for 6 months.
We broke up and he moved out. He has never paid any of the mortgage payments, bills, or taxes while living there or after. The most he did was pay for half of the fridge, the sofa, maybe paint to paint a room and stole my generator when he left.
I have lived in the house on my own for four months now paying for everything. All I really want is to own my house by myself. He doesn't have any money for me to sue him for anything anyways.
He would be willing to sign the house over to me for $4000, and the fridge and sofa.
What are my options, what should I do? I'm afraid getting a lawyer and taking him to court will cost more then he is asking for and wont end up with the result I want. I just want to walk away with the house.
