I am transfering into a two bedroom apartment. I currently live in a one bedroom apartment. The girl that lives below me in a one bedroom decided we could save money by transfering in the same complex just to a two bedroom. We both had to pay a $500 deposit which was paid on the 2nd of January. We are scheduled to move into our new apartment on the 19th of January but since the office will be closed they allowed to us moving in a day early. We have both paid our transfer fees, rent for January in BOTH apartments and even signed the lease for the new apartment. The only thing left we have to do is pick the keys up. On Thursday January the 15th my soon to be roommate recieved a notice on her door that stated that she had not paid her rent for December and she had 5 days to pay it or she would evicted and we would be unable to move into our new apartment. We then took eveidence that the money was taken out of her bank account and even the confirmation email she recieved after she paid it. The managers have the weekend off and left a message for us that said we will be unable to move in untill after Tuesday the 20th when they have time to contact their coorperate headquarters. What we have tried to explain to them is we have already cancelled everything in our apartment for the 18th since they were going to allow us to move in early. It has been below freezing here and will be an unlivable apartment once our heat and electricity is shut off in only a matter of hours. I was wanted to know what we could do. We are lost in this situation and feel we are being treaded wrongly.

Sounds like you two will need to rent a motel room for a day or two until you can get into your new apartment.

You can ask management to knock off the cost of doing this on your next rent payment since it appears it was their screw up that caused this.
