not getting paid for services

I took some photographs for someone who requested my services, many times she said she would pay me and this was witnessed. We did not discuss price at the time and after I completed the job and asked to be paid, a very fair rate, she refused. Is she somehow not obligated to pay me because we did not discuss the price?

She is obligated to pay you for your services, but without a written contract it will be hard to collect. Take her to small claims, have your witnesses come with you, take documents showing your usual rate of pay. First, write her a letter asking for payment, with the offer, send return receipt. Give her a deadline to pay. When the deadline passes, then file in small claims court. Take a copy of the letter and return receipt to court with you as well as copies of the photographs.
