My jurisdiction is: Laurens or Greenville Co. South Carolina

I own a small floor covering business, I subcontract. I install vinyl, cermic tile, hardwood and laminate. Work has been really slow lately so I accepted a few flooring jobs from a fellow flooring business owner. We are paid by piece work, for example, if I am paid $1.00 a foot for hardwood installation and I install 100 feet I get paid $100. The guy I did the work for has not paid me and does not return my phone calls. He owes me somewhere between $500 - $700. The reason I don't know exactly how much he owes me is because he may take a small percentage for supplies. I am not sure what to do about this situation. I can not afford to pay court fees up front. Any advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

You need to take this guy to small claims court. Consult with your local small claims court on how to file so you can recover for the unpaid services (minus the supplies). Take all the evidence you have with you (emails, text, invoices, service work orders, and witnesses). Good luck to you!
