Hello,
Over memorial day weekend I worked for 6 hours on Saturday and for 6 hours on Sunday at $8.50 an hour. They next weekend I was scheduled to work on Saturday June the 4th. Graduation was that day and I had tried and tried to request off but the system in store was down and I couldn't. I was not able to show up for work that Saturday from 5 - 11 and was unable to call in because I was at graduation. I was told when I got back to work the next day I would lose my holiday pay. Is that even possible because I was no call no show the week after. I also received no pay at all for the Saturday of Memorial weekend.

When you asked your informed payroll supervisor, your supervisor, your manager; what were you told?

If you haven't asked, allow me to guess.

Your last two sentences answer your own queries.

In the real world, when something fails, you're expected to find a workaround.

If the "in store system" is ever down in the future, locate the living, breathing, human, in store supervisor or manager. Request instructions as to how you proceed.

Good luck with that wage claim.

ok thanks,
Unfortunately I waited longer than I should have with requesting the day off. The reason I didn't talk to anyone was because the managers had left earlier that night. Of course I will make sure nothing like this ever happens again. Thanks agian.

Keep in mind also that under no law are you entitled to "holiday pay", regardless of whether you are talking about being paid for the holiday when you do not work it, or a premium when you do work it. The first is never required by law for non-exempt employees anywhere in the US, and the second is only required on some holidays for some employees in two states, neither of which is Indiana.
