Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Not sure what to do here...

Hi, I live in Texas, and work at a beauty salon/spa/superstore. Within the past few weeks, I have activated two gift cards, one for 75, and the other for 55(total of 130), and used them to pay for products and a hair color and pedicure. And, to state the obvious, without paying for them. This week, I had to go home to another city because my father was in a car accident, and when I called to say that I wasnt coming back because my father is very likely going to pass away, I was told that I needed to call my store manager because there was an emergency situation involving LP and i that needed to be discussed. I am not sure what my best option to do here is, or what consequences I might be facing. I know that this amount is not a felony, but I am still pretty scared of the consequences this stupid, unexcusable mistake might cause me.

My friend that also works in retail told me that I should possible just not answer the calls, but I feel like that is a stupid decision. What I did was wrong and I need to fix it, I am just afraid of what this "fixing" exactly implies.

I know that my store has cameras around the registers, and Im pretty positive that the transactions can be traced back to me, and the authorization of the giftcards.

If there is any advice that can be given, I would greatly appreciate it.

Look,
I understand that having an attorney present would be more beneficial, but I thought that since it was such a small dollar amount, and under the felony threshold, that I might not be in too huge of trouble. I was looking for a reply that might tell me what I could be expecting, if the dollar amount actually was a felony and i was mistaken, etc.

Its likely a misdemeanor. This is still damaging to future jobs, rentals, loans etc if convicted. If you make a statement to LP that statement can be used in court against you, Why give DA ammunition to use against you?

Just be advised, waiting too long might have LP call the police and then you deal with them.

I plan on contacting them as soon as all themedical problems pan out with my father and I am able to return to Waco, but my boss has not tried to contact me at all either, not to even ask me to come in or tell me there are things to be discussed.

I dont see how they could do that when no one has even mentioned to me that I am in trouble except for another co worker that has the same position as me....

1. You stole.

2. They discovered it

3. Theft is illegal on the planet called Earth.

4. Police investigate and arrest for theft.

5. You were told to contact LP to discuss the situation.

6. You didn't.

7. Since you don't want to cooperate, the next step is to turn the evidence over to the police and charge you with theft.

#5 has not happened, I have not eben contacted by anyone. But thank you for the advice. I completely understand that theft is wrong and that what I did was wrong, and I will make it right.

If you do not go in, they will most likely terminate you and place you not eligible for rehire due to job abandonment. This is way better than being terminated for theft. Also you risk being put into the national retail theft database.

If I was in this situation, I would just quit. Find another job. Do not talk to LP and force them to turn the issue over to the police. Once the police get it, they will contact you to come in. That is when you have an attorney present during questioning.
