My husband and I have been married for 8 years (together for 16). I live in PA and am not sure where to start. We have 2 children.
My situation:
I Was the primary bread winner while husband was on drugs for years.
Husband went to rehab after final PFA 4 years ago.
His history until 4 years ago = arrests, police reports, etc. for abuse and robbery.
I recently found out that he is abusing prescription drugs that he has been buying off the street for a year. He asked his doctor for help to get off of them a week ago.
Most of my reading about PA divorce refers to property and such. I stopped working 3 years ago due to a medical condition. He covers my medical insurance through work but the kids are on medicaid. We are on food stamps and rent a home so other than the cars, there isn't any property to speak of. I am doctor approved, ready to go back to work. Finding a job and paying for child care is a different story.
The kids and I can't go through that again. Where do I start? He won't leave. Neither one of us have any place to go. What is the first step and what can I expect?
