Can a Oil contract (digging a well) be put on a piece of property in one name only? The property is recorded under 2 names....Husband and wife...and the contract is only in one name. Do I have the rights to stop them?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

You most assuredly have equal property rights in this matter.
I don't know why any wildcatter, oil company, or oil speculator would agree to such a contract.
Unless there is something you've forgotten or don't know, your name should be on that contract.
I won't bore you with the exceptions.

I suggest you run, very carefully to an attorney that you trust.
I would inquire of your attorney, just what you did here.
I would then authorize that attorney to either stop the deal, or get your name onto the contract.

Whether you can STOP the drilling is another matter.
If you both own the property equally, both of you wouldn't have to agree to install a pool.
Or, both wouldn't have to agree and contract to drill a well for water.
I'm not so sure you can stop the oil drilling, but you are entitled to share of the profits!
