Oklahoma alimony modification question

What are grounds, downside, and practicality of modifying alimony payments in Oklahoma? I have been divorced for a 18 months and after yielding more than half of my assets I am paying 6 years of alimony at $2500/mo. This is more than the Duchess of York receives from an English Prince!

No minor children or support is involved.

I have maintained payments through unemployment and I am now employed at a salary similar to what I made during divorce. The ex-wife has found gainful employment (unknown salary) and also receives about $1000/month from royalties that I earned over the years. She has recently leased a second home on a nearby lake and I feel that I am a bit weary of working seven days a month just to support her lifestyle.

So, I am considering consulting with an attorney (a new one) to see about filing for downward modification of alimony rather than running off to be a beach bum somewhere. Does anyone have any similar experience or advise.
Thanks.

No one can predict what a court will decide. :dunno:

Speak with a local attorney who can provide insight as to the courts in your area.

You have to right to request a hearing to modify the order.

If it were me, I'd sure as heck try!

The Dutchess of York got alimony for life I think. Anyways you do not really have a chance of circumastance. You agreed to this or the judge awarded it, you really just cannot go back and change it. You can see an attorney but if you fight it you could be paying your ex's legal fees as well.
