old ticket too - California

same here, an infraction received in 1993 came up when I appeared on an infraction received in 2005? WTF? since then i have had my license renewed at least 3 times , registered vehicles in my name, been to court on a criminal matter and placed on probation (i was framed) under search & seizure and stopped driving... i am only required to keep records for 7 years, no? there must be a statute of limitations on this, no? should be.

Old Texas Speeding Tickets

We have been seeing a lot of this, especially from Texas. Unfortunately there is little to nothing that can be done except to try talking to the judge or having an attorney look into it. To my knowledge neither of these have been successful. There is not statute of limitations and your only choice is to pay up. I agree that it stinks.

My understanding

A statute of limitations is only in regards to the actual filing of charges, not how long they have to track you down. If you were issued a ticket I would almost make book on the fact that the officer filed the paperwork for the charges so a statute of limitations would not come into play.

I have seen cases of this in areas of Georgia. What happened is some counties did not suspend a license for unpaid tickets. The counties issued warrants for the arrest of the person for failure to appear. The problem came into effect because some people where not picked up on the warrants and they where taken off of ncic. The counties that issued the original citation had the citations still in their system so if that person was ever issued another citation in the same jurisdiction they could be help accountable on all charges.
