My jurisdiction is: Franklin County Ohio
I received a ticket in 1990 for failure to come to a complete stop at a stop sign. Then in 1991 I forgot to get my registration and was pulled over and ticketed for that. Later in 1991 I was pulled over for something minor and was not ticketed but I had not paid the other tickets and there were warrants out for me so the police took me downtown and I paid them. Yesterday I was pulled over because I forgot to get my registration. The deputy told me there were two warrants out for me for those two old tickets but he wouldnt arrest me because he was off duty and going home. I am unemployed and looking for a job so I have to get this taken care of now. I dont want to flunk background checks. How can I prove I paid those 17 years ago? Also when I called downtown to the clerk of courts office they told me I only have 1 unpaid ticket and bench warrant. The deputy told me a bench warrant is $500 to take care of and I just don't have the money right now. How can I get out of this? Is there a statute of limitations on this?
