hi
i am a UK citizen. Last year whilst in New York i recieved a 'ticket'(?), for an O.C.C. (open container crime).

The police took my passport and looked at it for a while i dont know what details they may have taken from it or put on record etc.

i think I was suppossed to send $40 to a certain adress/department before a certain date otherwise i was suppossed to turn up at court to 'debate' the issue/defend myself against the charge.
Since I did not have so much spending cash and was leaving the USA quite soon i left the matter in the hands of a friend. She said she would pay it before the time limit was up.

She is not communicating with me now and I suspect that she did not pay the fine.

I am planning to return to New York very soon and am wondering how this violation paid or unpaid will affect my gaining entrance to the country.

i would be very grateful for any response.

Upon landing in the United States, surrender.

sorry are you mocking me?
am i being overdramatic?
u mean it's not a problem?
i know it's apparently only a misdemeanour
i am happy to pay the fine or is it unlikely to b on a database?

You will probably have a warrant issued for your arrest for failure to appear in court.

Thus, my advice: surrender.

do u think even if i surrender they would deem me undesirable and send me back to UK?
Or would i be able to pay fine and allowed to stay?

I don't know you so I don't know if you are desirable.

So, take care of this before you visit us again.
