On Thursday, I quit my job after I the owner of the company said things to me I thought were unappropriate. I had been taken into the conference room by my manager and the owner was on speaker phone. The owner asked me questions regarding a phone call I had recieved by a customer 15 minutes prior. My reply to one of the owner's questions was "My bad." (meaning I was admitting to being wrong) His exact reply to this was "My bad? My bad? What is that? Are you a fucking gang member? A fucking thug?". Then he asked my manager what she thought I meant and she replied, "She's saying she's wrong." He proceded to scream and I got up and said "I quit" and walked out.
On Saturday, I called to see if I could get my final check and they told me it was sent out by certified mail that day. CA labor laws state that an employer can only do this if I request to have it sent to me by mail. I never requested that because I only live 5 minutes from the business. Do I have any grounds for a case against them?

That's not what the labor law says, at least as far as I understand it:

http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/displaycode?section=lab&group=00001-01000&file=200-243

202. (a) If an employee not having a written contract for a
definite period quits his or her employment, his or her wages shall
become due and payable not later than 72 hours thereafter, unless the
employee has given 72 hours previous notice of his or her intention
to quit, in which case the employee is entitled to his or her wages
at the time of quitting. Notwithstanding any other provision of law,
an employee who quits without providing a 72-hour notice shall be
entitled to receive payment by mail if he or she so requests and
designates a mailing address. The date of the mailing shall
constitute the date of payment for purposes of the requirement to
provide payment within 72 hours of the notice of quitting.

It doesn't say the check cannot be mailed. It says that you may request that it be mailed.
