I am one of many tenants of a landlord who isn't taking care of the property like he's supposed to. For example, we have a sinkhole in our parking lot, where fill was placed on an old house foundation. We have a sidewalk that has been cracked and forced up due to roots growing underneath. Also, we have front porches that are rickety and in danger of breaking, and railroad ties that have the iron rods coming up. I am concerned about us, especially an elderly, 80-something woman who lives in our building. We have mentioned these issues to him many times, and we're either ignored, or told to wait. Recently, after another mention, we were told that if concerns keep coming, our rent may increase. Aside from the above, the vinyl siding has holes, the place needs a power-wash, and every year, there are bees.

Here is another concern. He is the property manager, and a certain company owns the property. When asked about who the owners are, he doesn't tell us. We have done some research and found out that he is actually an owner/part owner. Also, he also doesn't want us to contact him at home, but at his place of business. On rare occasions, he visits...in his high-priced sports car. Basically, I am asking for feedback or other avenues to pursue. Thanks.

If there are health or safety concerns put the repair request in writing! Send them certified mail. Give Landlord proper amount of time to fix problem. Couple weeks should suffice. Then talk to a Landlord/Tenant Lawyer in your area for your unnamed states remedy process. There coud be several solutions but without state its hard to advise you. You can also (after written request is ignored) contact City to inspect property. If your on a month to month agreement the Landlord may raise the rent with proper notice
