I received a call at my job advising she was a auditor and needed to know how I intend to pay off a payday loan she said I took out in 2007 - I advised her to fax me over the information and I would check my bank records - the pay day loan I took out I assumed was paid in full - she started saying I was going to be charged with fraud, illegal use of funds, etc. She was yelling at me over the phone and I work in an office with close cubicals - I told her I would call her back at lunch - before I called her back she called my work again at 12:00 and started to ask the receptionist all kinds of questions - then when I called her back on my late lunch she started accusing me of not caring and would send my file out for further action - I told her I did not have any money in my checking account and she wanted me to give her a post dated electronic check for $686.00 - the loan was for $200 - I told her that I would have to think about it and call her back - when I did not call her back within her time frame (I was not even able to take a break at work because the lady that works with me was out taking chemo and I had double the work) she left a threatening message that I was not to call her back and that she would see to it that I was charged with all sorts of accusations. I then received a voice mail from someone who sounded foreign advising that if I did not return the call I would be arrested on Monday and would lose my job - I have the message on my phone. I did not receive my messages until Sunday as my house was flooded in the storm and I was dealing with that. Can I be arrested for something that I have no idea wether I owe - I have ordered my bank records for that period but I am sure that I paid the loan back as this is the first I have heard about it. Do I need to retain an attorney?

This is a scam. I answered this question for another lady. Tell them that you know it is a scam and that you are reporting them to the police. Even if you did have a payday loan it is a civil matter. You can not be arrested for it. Let your work place know that this is just a scam and you need help getting rid of them.

If you post more information about them I'll see if I can track them down on line and show you other people they are scamming.
