I work in an office and brought my personal laptop for work use. The company I work for lacked to provide me with a company computer. So, in order to be proactive I used my personal laptop to complete my work. Today my laptop crashed and now I'm left without a personal laptop... Is my employer liable for this? They lacked to provide me with a computer at work.

What caused it to crash?

Did they ask you to bring it in or did you volunteer to do it?

What is the nature of your job and why did they not provide a company machine?

How long had you been using it for work activities before it crashed?

They might be nice enough to pay for the repair, but it's your laptop, your responsibility.
