Yesterday I recieved a petty misdemeanor for possesion of drug paraphenalia, and possesion of small amount of marajuana. The paraphenalia being my passangers. I would like to know about how much is my ticket going to be, and should I get a lawyer? I am so scared this is my first offense in my life, and I have no one to consult with. I don't know what to do, I really need legal advice i'm terrified.

You should plead not guilty.
If you can't afford a lawyer, ask the court to appoint one to defend you.
In some states when you're charged with low level crimes, the court may not offer you a court appointed attorney.
Then you'd have to hire your own.

Even if that is the case, plead not guilty.
You can always change the plea later.
This is mo time to get scared.
You're fighting for yourself and your reputation.
Most people don't want a DOPE conviction on their record.

Keep your mouth shut.
Now isn't the time to admit to anything.
Stop using dope. Yes, weed is dope. It got you in this mess.

Even if they convict you, you aren't Al Capone.
You won't go to prison.
You could lose your driving privileges, in some states.
You'll do community service in most states, pay a fine, and be ordered to take some kind of drug abuse class.

Stay away from the creep who stuck YOU with the drug paraphernalia charge.
That isn't a friend.
It's a lying, low down weasel.

Good luck.
Keep your mouth shut.
This isn't the time to go flapping your gums and admit to anything, unless you wanna help them hang you!

Thank you that was very helpful.
Also, the Police Officer said that if we had anything in our car and he had to search for it we were going to go to jail. Is this true?

No, the police often lie to citizens.

You'd go to jail anyway.

More often than not, cops try to scare people into doing what they want.
