Almost 2 years ago my friend and I were busted shoplifting at a Store Name , I was 18 she was 17. I had no more than $10 worth of merch give or take. They took down my info, scanned my ID, said I'd get a fee to pay in the mail, I couldn't go into the store for one year, and I was free to leave while my friend had to wait for her parents to come pick her up.

2 years later, and I have yet to get billed for anything...Now, I have a great job opportunity that I'm in the process of a criminal background check and awaiting confirmation. I said I don't have a criminal background, because cops were never called and I wasn't prosecuted. However the hiring manager at the store i've applied at, has managed the store I shoplifted at. I'm terrified he's going to find out and I'm going to lose the job offer because of this.

Will this show up on my background check?

If there was no criminal charge then there is no record. Now if the store decides to search its own database it could be discovered

I seriously doubt the manager remembers you. The loss prevention on the other hand most likely does. There are plenty of jobs out there, why risk applying at this job, getting it, only to lose it a few weeks later when they discover you stole from them two years prior? It isn't worth it - at all.

I am glad that you learned your lesson and haven't stolen since then. My advice (and its free so take it however you want to :D ) would be to get a job somewhere else.
