Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Petty Theft Arrest. Many Questions.

I was arrested for petty theft yesterday. I have many things running through my mind now, since i sat in jail for only that night, and was released. I am 18 and charged as an adult, as of now, I know that i will be paying a fine.

1) Will I be doing any more time in jail?

2) Should I hire a lawyer for my case?

3) Is there a possibility for me to expunge/seal this off my record?

4) When finding a job, is there a time period when I can stop writing down that I commited petty theft? Usually the application says recently.

5) Any more advice as to what i should do?

Usually there is no jail time for a first time offender.
Since you are still young and this event can really mess up your future you might want to consult an attorney. He or she should be able to see if there are ways to get this dismissed so that it doesn't screw up your record or how in the future you can get this expunged. The investment of the attorney's fees might be worth it.
