Hi I was charged with petty theft and it was 2 years ago as of right now I'm 17. My parents pay all the stuff I stole and I completed probation (the community service and the theft class). I never went to court i was just sent straight to probation office with the pre-filling diversion program. Also never went to the police station I only obtained a citation.
1. Are my charges dropped?
2. I am starting to apply for a summer job at the moment will anything show on background check/criminal history?

Yes, this will likely show up on a background check, however some checks don't dig as deep as others.

Your charges were not dropped, and your citation is the equivalent of an arrest.

If I read you correctly, that incident occurred when you 15 years old or so.
That's a juvenile matter.
It's also not a conviction, it's merely a delinquent act, with some ruling called an adjudication or finding of delinquency.
I think for the most part, juvenile records are sealed.
It takes a court order, and then only certain people can even obtain them.

Can't tell you what to say, but if I were in your position, I wouldn't mention.
Retailers have nationwide databases, several of them.
They say they don't report juveniles.
If that's true, you might get hired.
If I were you, I'd avoid retail establishments.
You also want to ignore temptations and no more sticky fingers. Good luck.
