Criminal Law Petty Theft

Hi I just recently received a petty theft charge and pleaded no contest to the conviction. Im also a permanent legal alien in this country and wondering if I will get deported? I received 2 years of summary probation which means that I can't get caught stealing and a fine of $130 dollars. Is my residence in the USA in jeopardy? Will I ever get to become a USA citizenship? This charge was my first offence, besides this I had a clean record. Plz help, what should I do?

Some good News!!

After my conviction I was consulted by an Immigration Attorney. I explained my situation and said that I was not deportable. The reason: It was my first offense and did not receive a 1 year sentence, I told him about my 2 year summary probation and he said a sentencing of a year means to serve jail time. Also I did not commit the crime within 5 years of my residence here in the USA. But did tell me that It was going to affect becoming a USA citizen. He said I would have to wait 5 years to show good moral in order to apply for the citizenship.
