Photos of vehicles

Can a person take a photo of a vehicle, car, motorcycle, whatever, (taken legitimately in public areas) and use, or publish the photos of hte vehicles in a trade publication (specific to automobiles)?

I don't see why you could not publish your own photos taken of something or someone in a public space, e.g. parked on the street.

What about my property?? hehe If someone were to photo my car in the mall parking lot, and I saw that used in an add for, "Does your car need a re-build" hehe I'd be mad, but is it illegal??

Illegal? Good question -- it would seem there might be intellectual property rights in the object so that if, e.g. you took a picture of someone's house it would not be give a person permission to use it as a design on your home page.
