I live in North Carolina, and had a stop sign violation about 9 months ago. I was granted a Prayer for Judgement Continued, I paid my court costs and forgot about it. Today I received a letter in the mail from my insurance company that stated due to my recent violation my rates would be going up. They listed that some consumer watchdog group in Georgia had reported my violation.
I was under the assumption that a PJC resulted in no Insurance rate surcharge. Am I mistaken? Do I have any recourse to claim to my Ins co that I received a PJC and that the rate increase should be rescinded?
