Placed on probation for speeding. Should I request a hearing?

I was ticketed for driving at 70 in a 55 mile zone twice in the last 12 months. I got a letter stating that I have been placed on probation. The letter also says that I can request for a hearing. As I did not know that I could have contested using a lawyer until recently, I just paid the fine. I guess that I pleaded guilty by doing so.
What should I do? Should I request a hearing? Thanks.
