Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Plea bargain on arraignment day?? (VA)

Hey guys... You all have been very helpful on my last post, just one more concern. My arraignment is coming up next week... I understand that it's when I enter my plea, but if I have a lawyer before then, can we start a plea bargain on that date instead of going to trial again? I'm not sure how all this works. Not a day goes by that I don't freak out about what is going to happen to me (the items stolen equaled $39) but I'm afraid of even a weekend in jail since I have a 2 year old momma's boy at home.

Its possible but if you do not already have a Lawyer to arrange your plea deal its unlikely the PD will have the time to do right then

Ask around for the private attorney's in your area that have a VERY good relationship with the Commonwealth Attorney. Those that do, can start the bargaining process earlier and help mitigate your exposure to this. I know some good attorney's in the area (I have no relationship or gain anything financially from them) and they can help refer you to other good attorney's if they cannot take your case.
