I used work at this retail store and I shoplifted twice. I confessed to my Manager/boss because I felt really bad and I rather confess than actually letting her find out and be even more disappointed in me. After telling her, she said not to worry and she was very happy that I confess etc and she actually really liked me therefore I continued working there. I have never shoplifted again afterwords. However after working there for a couple of months, I had to leave for vacation. For about a couple of months I was gone, I came back home deciding that I would apply at a different store where my friend who was a Manager was going to hire me.
After handing in my resume to this new place, I've never gotten a reply back. So I went there instead to see what was going on. My Manager friend brought me to the back and told me that she heard "rumors" of me stealing and admitting to my theft. And had asked me if it was true. I denied it, but I felt really embarrassed and really mad at myself.

So my question is, would the company come after me even if its been a year after I've confess.

It just doesn't seem right to me because I had every intention of knowing that I would get in trouble after confessing, but my Manager forgave me and I continued to work there.

Thank you for your time
