Let me start off by saying this was the stupidest thing I've ever done and have learned my lesson. Recently I figured out that I could steal high priced items from a retail store and return them and they would give me cash back. I have stolen and returned over $1,000 worth of merchandise to one card. While trying to return and item the loss prevention department walked up to me and confirmed my name. They then handed me a letter stating that the store recently conducted an investigation inot my refund activity and it revealed numerous questionable and problematic refunds. I was told they wanted my input and to call them to set up an appointment. Also in the letter it stated if I didn't call back within 10 business days they would conclude the investigation without my input. I called back that day and got the voicemail. I was never detained or asked to go with them anywhere. I was simply handed the letter and told to call them. I am so nervous about this it is making me sick. I am a single mother and I have NEVER been in trouble with the law. This was a total lapse in judgement. I'm wondering if anyone has had this happen and what the outcome was. I am really nervous!
