My husband's ex girlfriend recently filed a petition for contempt of court for failure to pay child support. Obviously we do not have finances to hire a private attorney, or there would be no back child support. Could you please advise us as to what needs to be done to avoid incarceration. Thanks.

He should show up to the hearing and explain to the judge on why he is behind on CS. The judge will probably give him a timeline to get a job and start making payments. If he is unemployed and its not voluntary, he can ask for a CS reduction and ask that it be recalculated but he needs to get a job and start making payments.

he has 20 days to file a counter claim. could you tell me what counter claims could be filed? thanx
