Shoplifting, Larceny, Robbery, Theft Please Help

If one party reports a rental car stolen and accuses a second party of it , and when the second party finds out and then it becomes a matter of one parties word against the other how can it be solved where both parties involved save face?

It isn't about saving face.
Was the car stolen or wasnt it?
Or was the car simply taken without permission during some sort of spat?
Usually when you know who stole your car it its less of a stolen car and more of a civil dispute over property.

You said you reported the rental car stolen. Who did you report it to - the police, rental car company......

Was the car actual stolen? Do you have it back now? If so, who took it (was it the person you accused) & why? What exactly happened?
