If a person gave the police info on a case but asked the police to keep there personal information, out of any paper work, will he or she's name appear on the motion of discovery.

The police can keep certain information private.

But, if the matter goes to trial, discovery isn't controlled by the police.

The rules regarding discovery are controlled by the states codified criminal procedure.

During a criminal trial the issue of discovery is governed by those rules of criminal procedure and specific matters are ruled on by the trial judge.

It's safe to assume that if you told the police you saw David Jones shoot Bill Brown, that information will come out at trial.

Don't confuse being a confidential informant with being called as a witness at trial.

There are no secrets allowed at trial, and trials aren't star chambers.
